The further along you get in living a lifestyle of success (which will often look and feel like a lifestyle of failure), the more you’re going to encounter the following statement from acquaintances, friends, and even family:
At first, you’ll shrug it off and keep marching onward. But, sooner or later, if you stay on the path long enough to hear that little phrase over and over again, it may bring up a few questions in your mind…
Am I expecting too much from myself?
Am I putting too much of a burden on my family?
Do I really have what it takes to pull this off?
Are they right? Am I really just crazy?
Forget those questions. Instead of doubting yourself and your dream next time you hear that phrase from someone, simply respond to them with this:
What things actually are crazy? Make them tell you.
Is it crazy to get up at 4 AM to start working?
Is it crazy to work 80 hours per week?
Is it crazy to pray and talk to your Creator as the last thing you do each night?
Is it crazy to find tiny reasons to celebrate throughout the day?
Is it crazy to want more choices and freedom in your life?
Is it crazy to live debt free?
Is it crazy to get up reading your Bible first thing every morning?
Is it crazy to greet every single person you meet with love in your heart, saying silently, I love you?
Is it crazy to keep giving yourself, your time, your energy, in a take-take-take world?
Is it crazy to spend your Friday and Saturday nights writing instead of socializing?
Is it crazy to tithe and give to your church over and over in an abundant way?
Is it crazy to spend days at a time alone, crying out, “What’s next?” to God?
Is it crazy to give books away by the case?
Is it crazy to seek out rejection instead of fearing it?
Is it crazy to settle for nothing short of the very best?
Crazy may be defined as anything way out of the ordinary. It is something that “normal people” do not do.
Crazy people think excellence. Normal people do not.
Normal people are accepting of the status quo. Crazy people want much more.
Crazy people are concerned about the cleanliness of their car trunk. Normal people use the trunk for junk.
Crazy people plan way ahead—one, two, five years out. Normal people are shocked when the sun goes down each day.
If you want to accomplish more, reach more people, leave a lasting legacy…make sure you are on the crazy list. That you are doing crazy things every day, all day long.
After all, Apple’s famous ad didn’t start out by saying, “Here’s to the normal ones…”
What crazy thing will you do today?
